MAIN PANEL AND SERVICE UPGRADE

An older home may contain unsafe deteriorated components in the electrical panel. Be cautious of old dangerous panels they could result in electrical shock or possibly a fire. It may be necessary to upgrade the service to ensure that your home and family are safe.

If your main electrical panel has any of the following, you may need an upgrade.

  1. Melted wires
  2. Defective or cracked breakers
  3. Breakers that fail to trip or are constantly needing to be reset
  4. Flickering lights in your home
  5. Two pronged receptacles that do not have a ground
  6. Appliances running at less then full capacity.
  7. If your home was built between 1950 to 1980 and is
  8. equipped with a federal pacific, zinsco, or pushmatic panel.

Even if your house isn’t 40 years old and has 100 amp service you may still require an upgrade if:

  1. you have recently remodeled your home
  2. made an addition to the home
  3. added a pool or spa to your property
  4. Installed new kitchen appliances
  5. New air conditioner
  6. Garage equipment such as an air compressor or a welder
  7. You may have overloaded the service that is currently there.

Replacing the panel includes:

  1. Removing and disposal of old outdated panel
  2. Purchase of new panel and breaker load center
  3. Direct labor expenses
  4. Planning equipment and material needed
  5. Area preparation
  6. Setup of new equipment which may require connectors, fittings, junction boxes. and fasteners.

Sub panel

The Sub panel acts as a way point between the main service panel and branched circuits further down into various parts of the home.  Usually a sub panel will service a major separate area whether,  it be your kitchen, garage, pool/spa, guest house, shop, barn or any addition to your home.
